1. Data we collect and how we collect it
Homework photos and AI inputs
We collect a photo only when you choose one from your photo library, take one with the camera, or provide a PDF and then actively use it in an AI request. A photo may show worksheet content, handwritten notes, diagrams, and other visible learning materials.
We also collect the question text or prompt you enter, the subject or topic you select when a feature requests it, and the technical instructions needed to produce your requested explanation, analysis, or practice content.
Lirno may analyze visible content in a submitted image or text to provide the learning feature you request. Lirno does not use these features to identify you, authenticate you, or create a facial-recognition or Face ID template.
AI tutor chat
When you use Lirno Tutor, we collect the message you submit, relevant previous messages included to maintain the conversation, and learning context such as subject, topic, and preferences. This content is collected only after you expressly agree to send AI tutor messages.
Account and authentication data
Lirno creates an anonymous service identifier when the app starts so that it can enforce usage limits and provide core functionality. If you choose to sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we receive the account identifier and profile information made available by that sign-in method, which may include your name and email address.
Purchases and subscription status
Apple processes App Store payments. RevenueCat, Inc. processes an app user identifier, product and entitlement information, purchase status, and transaction information so that Lirno can provide and restore premium features. We do not receive or store your payment-card number.
Technical and usage data
Our systems automatically process service identifiers, premium status, feature usage counters, request timestamps, app and device information, IP address, and limited diagnostic logs. We use this data to operate the service, prevent abuse, enforce feature limits, diagnose failures, and maintain security.
Lirno does not use third-party advertising SDKs and does not sell personal data or use it for cross-app tracking.
2. How we use the data
We use the data described above only to:
- Upload and process the photo or message you expressly submit
- Generate requested homework explanations, tutoring results, and practice content
- Provide the Lirno Tutor conversation
- Display, save locally, and export the result you request
- Authenticate accounts, provide subscriptions, and restore purchases
- Enforce service limits, secure the service, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot failures
- Comply with law and enforce our terms
Lirno does not use submitted photos, AI chat content, or generated results to train Lirno models. We do not permit our AI processors to use Lirno inputs to train models for their own or another customer's benefit.
3. Third parties that receive data
We share data only as needed to provide the feature you request:
- Cloud infrastructure providers: receive photos for temporary secure storage as well as service identifiers, account information, request payloads, usage counters, and subscription status needed to operate account, storage, and processing features.
- AI processing providers: receive a submitted photo through a temporary cloud URL and the relevant extraction, tutoring, or practice instructions when you request a homework explanation or study content. They may also receive a Lirno Tutor message, relevant chat history, and learning context when you request a reply.
- RevenueCat, Inc.: receives an app user identifier and purchase, subscription, and entitlement information to provide and restore premium access. RevenueCat does not receive Lirno photos or Lirno Tutor messages.
- Apple Inc. and Google LLC: receive information when you choose their account sign-in or app-store payment services, subject to their own privacy policies.
Each service provider is required by its data-processing terms and our instructions to use Lirno personal data only to provide the contracted service, protect it with the same or equivalent safeguards, keep it confidential, and delete or return it as required.
We do not authorize any provider to sell Lirno personal data, use it for advertising, or use it to train models for other customers.
4. How AI requests are initiated
Lirno sends content to its service providers only when you initiate the corresponding feature:
- A homework photo or PDF is sent when you choose it and use it in an AI request
- A Lirno Tutor message is sent when you tap the send action
- Relevant conversation and learning context may accompany the request so the feature can respond
Leaving the flow without sending does not submit that content for AI processing. iOS camera and photo-library permissions can be reviewed or changed in your device settings.
You can stop future transfers by not submitting another AI request, by removing camera or photo-library access in iOS Settings, or by deleting your account. These choices cannot undo processing that you previously requested.
5. Storage and retention
- Homework photos stored temporarily in secure cloud storage are scheduled for deletion once they are more than one hour old. Cleanup runs periodically, so deletion may not be instantaneous at the one-hour mark.
- Homework sessions, generated study content, study sets, planner items, progress records, and chat history are kept locally on your device unless a feature clearly tells you otherwise. Local content remains until you delete it, delete the app data, or uninstall the app.
- Account identifiers, subscription status, and usage records are kept while needed to operate your account and service limits, and are deleted or anonymized after account deletion except where law, security, fraud prevention, or financial recordkeeping requires longer.
- AI processors may retain limited request data for the shortest period permitted by applicable business/API terms for safety, abuse monitoring, and legal compliance. They may not use Lirno inputs for model training or advertising.
6. Security and international transfers
Lirno transmits data over encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections and uses access controls intended to limit data to authorized systems and personnel. Our processors may handle data in countries other than your own. Where required, we use contractual and legal safeguards for international transfers.
7. Your choices and rights
You can choose not to submit content to AI features and continue using features that do not require the transfer. You can manage camera and photo-library access in iOS Settings, delete locally saved content, and delete your account in the account settings.
Depending on where you live, you may also request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection and may complain to your data-protection authority.
To make a privacy request, use the Rocket Digital contact form and identify Lirno in your request.
8. Children
Lirno is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us so that we can delete it.
9. Changes
We may update this policy when the app, processors, or legal requirements change. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law and reflected in the updated date shown at the top of this page.
